West Philadelphia Business Owner Launches Water Ice Venture at Disneyland

Lemier Mitchell, a West Philadelphia entrepreneur, has made history by launching Happy Ice, a water ice shop, at Disneyland on Juneteenth, becoming the resort’s first Black-owned dessert shop. His journey started with a food truck and a successful pop-up in 2021, which led to a permanent location at the park.

Mitchell, who grew up in a challenging neighborhood, aims to be a positive example for young people. He hopes to normalize partnerships between Black-owned businesses and major companies like Disney. Since opening, Happy Ice has exceeded expectations, bringing a taste of Philadelphia to Southern California.
