Japan reduces travel warnings for certain regions in Egypt.

Japan’s Foreign Ministry has updated its travel advisory for Egypt, reducing the danger level for the South Sinai Governorate from Level 3 (avoid all travel) to Level 2 (avoid non-essential travel), due to a stabilizing security situation. However, other regions maintain higher warnings: the North Sinai Governorate and the Libyan border area remain at Level 3, while the Gulf of Aqaba, including Dahab and Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as Greater Cairo, are at Level 1 (exercise caution).

The advisory stresses ongoing terrorist operations in North Sinai, advising those currently there to evacuate. It also highlights risks in western and southern desert regions and recommends avoiding the Libyan border due to instability. Overall, the Ministry warns of potential terrorist threats in public places, including tourist spots and transport facilities, urging vigilance and advising travelers to arrange trips through reputable agencies.

Despite the decline in violence since 2018, the Ministry notes that threats, including possible bombings near urban areas and tourist sites, remain. Travelers are encouraged to follow local regulations and be prepared for potential disruptions.
