Nutrition Awareness Programme Concludes at Magadh Mahila College

Patna: Students of Magadh Mahila College (MMC) engaged in a five-day national nutrition awareness programme organized by the home science department, focusing on practical applications of nutrition awareness, from medicinal plants to healthy recipes. The programme concluded on Wednesday.

Under the guidance of department head Kavita Kumari, the initiative aimed to raise awareness among students, teachers, and staff about malnutrition and health issues connected to unhealthy lifestyles. Faculty members Shruti Kumari and Seema Prakash coordinated the event.

A variety of activities were conducted to promote balanced diets and healthy living, including the plantation of nutrition- and medicinal-value plants, poster displays, and a cooking competition. College principal N P Verma emphasized the significance of nutrition, highlighting health risks associated with poor lifestyle choices during his interaction with students.

On the concluding day, participants showcased nutritious recipes targeting common health issues such as anaemia, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and heart disease. The competition was judged by Kumkum Kumari, head of the home science department at Patliputra University, and Kumari Rupam, head at Patna University.

Semester VII students were recognized as the top performers, with Semesters V, III, and I taking the next three positions, respectively.
