Jude Mikulencak, a 23-year-old tailor from Uptown New Orleans, is a finalist on “Project Runway,” airing Thursday night. Known for his niche formal-wear style and tailoring skills, he’s competing for a $200,000 prize, a feature in Elle magazine, and mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Currently working at a bespoke shop in Brooklyn, Mikulencak began his fashion journey in high school, creating various garments for friends. The show’s 22nd season has narrowed down to the final four contestants, including Mikulencak and his fellow designers, Anna Molinari and Bi Pham. After a cliffhanger in the last episode, the fourth finalist remains a mystery.
Featuring judges like Law Roach and Heidi Klum, “Project Runway” has produced over 250 episodes, launching the careers of many designers. Mikulencak has previously topped multiple challenges this season, showcasing his talent with animal-inspired designs and ballroom pieces.
With a foundation in traditional tailoring techniques and experience from Milan Fashion Week, he’s received strong support from fans, friends, and family, who plan to gather at The Broadside in Mid-City to watch the finale at 9 p.m. The episode airs on Freeform and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
