The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has unanimously renewed the operating licenses for Detroit’s three commercial casinos—MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown—during their board meeting on September 8, 2026. This process involved a thorough evaluation of each casino’s financial health, operational practices, and compliance with responsible gaming laws.
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams emphasized the commitment to maintaining integrity within the industry, ensuring fair gaming and accountability. The casinos contribute significantly to state and city revenue through various taxes and fees, including a 19% tax rate on adjusted gross receipts.
Licenses are evaluated annually, with the next review set for September 2027. For more information about Michigan’s gaming regulations and the MGCB’s role, visit Michigan.gov/MGCB.
