Biarritz Pizza and Wine Bar Announces New Partners and Kashrus Certification
Biarritz Pizza and Wine Bar, an upscale dairy restaurant located on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights, has exciting news as it welcomes new partners. The Crown Heights Beis Din’s kashrus division, CHK, has announced that Biarritz will be granted kosher certification.
New Ownership
Longtime owner and manager Clara Perez is joined by brothers Yossi and Mica Soffer, co-owners of COLlive Media Group. Additionally, Shmulik and Aidy Soffer have become partners in the popular restaurant.
Clara Perez is well-respected in the kosher dining community, having co-owned the original Basil Pizza and Wine Bar at the same location since 2010. Basil was known as a premier destination for upscale kosher dining, often attracting long lines for its artisanal pizzas, fresh fish, and distinctive atmosphere.
From Basil to Biarritz
After Basil closed its doors in 2023, plans were made to revive the location. Reopening as Biarritz in February 2025, the restaurant aimed to deliver popular dishes and an inviting atmosphere, named after the picturesque seaside town in France.
Biarritz has continued the tradition of being a local and international dining hotspot, offering an updated menu featuring artisanal pizza, fresh fish, pasta, salads, and an array of beverages, including coffee, beer, and wine.
New Kashrus Certification
Initially certified by CHK, Biarritz had been operating under the Vaad Kashrus Mehadrin of Lakewood, while upholding standards such as Cholov Yisroel and Pas Yisroel. With the recent partnership, the restaurant will again be certified by Crown Heights Kosher (CHK) under the leadership of Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yosef Braun, catering specifically to the local residents who rely on CHK certification.
Exciting Updates Ahead
Clara Perez will continue to lead Biarritz alongside the Soffer brothers, who are eager to bring new excitement and innovation to the restaurant. They are already in the process of updating the menu and enhancing the overall dining experience, with more details expected in the coming weeks.
This new partnership represents a significant milestone in the evolution of kosher dining in Crown Heights. From the beginnings of Basil to the current offerings at Biarritz, the Kingston Avenue location remains a favorite in the community.
