Qualitas Energy, a Spanish renewables investor, has announced an agreement to acquire Cero Generation’s core European platform from Macquarie Group. This acquisition adds a substantial 5.8 GW portfolio of solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects to Qualitas Energy’s assets.
The portfolio includes over 2 GW of projects that are already operational, under construction, or ready for development, along with an additional 3.8 GW of projects currently in development within the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain.
Cero Generation, established by Macquarie Group in 2021, is an independent power producer focused on solar PV and BESS projects. The company employs a comprehensive in-house model throughout the project life cycle, aligning closely with Qualitas Energy’s vertically integrated approach.
After the transaction is finalized, Cero Generation will maintain its brand and function as an independent portfolio company under Qualitas Energy’s ownership. The deal is anticipated to close in the coming months, pending customary conditions.
