Burglary at Frato’s Kitchen & Gaming in Schaumburg, Illinois
Early Tuesday morning, Frato’s Kitchen & Gaming, located at 620 S. Roselle Rd. in Weatherway Plaza, was the target of a burglary that caused irreparable damage to the gaming machines. The restaurant reported that it was among several businesses that faced similar attacks.
Community Response and Security Measures
Representatives from nearby businesses quickly notified authorities, which helped prevent further damage to other establishments. Michael Kudrna, president of Frato’s Restaurants, noted that while the area where the gaming machines are located is monitored by Illinois Gaming Board cameras, the restaurant’s own cameras failed to capture footage of the burglars as they did not venture further inside.
Damage Report and Future Precautions
Kudrna revealed that the gaming machines were severely damaged and cannot be repaired. To maintain security, he opted not to disclose the financial losses incurred, aiming to deter potential copycat criminals. The restaurant remained closed on Tuesday for clean-up and security enhancements, with hopes to reopen by Wednesday.
Kudrna expressed gratitude for the swift response from the community and local police, stating, “It could have been much worse if it wasn’t for the community help.” He reassured that the staff would be supported through the aftermath of the incident.
