Alan Carr moved as Celebrity Traitors cast honors him with special recognition at the NTAs.

Alan Carr received the Special Recognition Award at the 2026 National Television Awards (NTAs) during a lively ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on September 8. The reveal featured a musical performance by Amanda Holden and Paloma Faith, with Faith making a dramatic coffin entrance reminiscent of their time on Celebrity Traitors.

Viewers on social media praised the campy reveal, with one noting it was “the CAMPEST THING” they had ever seen. Upon taking the stage, Carr humorously admitted he only realized the surprise was for him when Faith emerged from the coffin.

Carr’s acceptance speech was heartfelt, acknowledging the audience’s support over his 20-year career, which included his well-known shows like The Friday Night Project and Alan Carr: Chatty Man. He added that the Special Recognition Award is unique as it is not determined by public vote.

Carr, celebrated for his flamboyant comedic style and contributions to British pop culture, became emotional reflecting on his journey in the industry. He won the award alongside notable figures such as Sheridan Smith and David Attenborough, marking a significant moment in his career.
