Avignon, France – September 7, 2026 – Independent developer Atlantis Studio today announced the release date for its highly anticipated co-op horror adventure, Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch. This Nintendo Switch™ 2 exclusive title will launch on October 22nd, just in time for Halloween.
Having put numerous subjects to the test over the past few months, the results are clear: while a few have managed to escape the House, none have ever done it alone. Beyond The Dark: Nightwatch delivers a tense, clever mix of spooky atmosphere and strategic thinking. Designed primarily as a couch co-op experience—complete with GameShare, Local Network, and Online Modes—the game facilitates seamless gameplay by including a “Friend’s Pass”, allowing a second player to play without needing to own the game themselves, compatible with any generation of Nintendo Switch console!
Gameplay Overview
The unique experience places each player in vastly different, interdependent roles. One player explores the shadowy House in first-person, hunting for clues to solve mysteries and escape before THE ENTITY catches them. Meanwhile, the other player commands a network of cameras and tactical tools to guide their partner. Communication is the ultimate survival tool; even the slightest misstep or breakdown in trust can lead to a premature end at the hands of THE ENTITY. Playtesters have described the short, high-stakes adventure as reminiscent of an IRL escape room, making it the ultimate test of teamwork.
