Investigation into Death of Pig Found on NH Road
MARLBOROUGH, N.H. — The Marlborough Police Department is currently investigating the death of a domestic pig that was discovered on the side of Route 124.
Rebecca Cloud, a resident of Keene, learned about the pig through social media and felt compelled to check on it. Upon arriving, she found the pig, later identified as named Princess, was deceased. “I found the pull-off where it was, and I got out of my car… it was cold. So I realized it was dead,” she recounted.
Witnesses, including local resident Billy Kirker, revealed that Princess had been living on Kirker’s property and was cared for by her tenant, who later moved out, leaving the pig behind. Kirker expressed her sorrow, stating, “She was really special” and noted how well Princess fit in with her other animals.
The pig’s body was later recovered and returned to Troy. The police have stated they are investigating the circumstances of the pig’s death and have indicated that they do not believe she was killed at the location where she was found.
Community members are voicing their distress over the incident, with Cloud reflecting, “Seeing any animal like that… is an awful thing.” Kirker hopes for justice for Princess and has expressed gratitude for the support she has received from the community.
Authorities are appealing for anyone with information about the situation or the pig’s history to come forward.
