Peacock is relaunching the reality competition I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! with a new version titled Get Me Out of Here, hosted by Maura Higgins and Rob Rausch from The Traitors. This marks a third attempt at the format in the U.S., following short-lived versions on ABC in 2003 and NBC in 2009.
Peacock describes the new edition as an “updated and amped-up” experience where pairs of celebrities and their non-celebrity friends or family face stripped-down challenges in a jungle setting. They will earn rewards while navigating physical and psychological tests without the typical comforts of celebrity life. Ultimately, one team will win a $100,000 grand prize, but the format has sparked skepticism about its authenticity and the casting of lesser-known personalities rather than A-listers.
Concerns linger about the previous iterations of the show, which felt more supportive than survival-oriented, raising questions about whether this version can strike the right balance and resonate with audiences.
