Krafton Chairman Holds Meeting with Modi as India’s Investment Hits $500 Million

Krafton Chairman Chang Byung-Gyu recently met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss cooperation in gaming, technology, and digital entertainment. Their discussions aimed to strengthen Korea-India relations and support India’s gaming sector, aligning with initiatives like “Viksit Bharat” and “Create in India.”

Krafton has invested approximately $250 million in India and plans to commit an additional $250 million over the next few years, with a total investment expected to reach around $500 million. The company is also focusing on local gaming intellectual property and startups, alongside its investments in AI and deep tech.

Additionally, Krafton has established the $670 million Unicorn Growth Fund to enhance investments in India’s tech ecosystem and developed local talent through the KIGI Academy. By acquiring Nautilus Mobile, the studio behind the “Real Cricket” series, Krafton aims to deepen its presence in the Indian market.

Chang emphasized India’s potential, stating, “India is a key market with outstanding talent across gaming, technology, and innovation.” He reaffirmed Krafton’s commitment to investing in and collaborating with Indian creators to develop globally relevant technologies.
