Cherished PlayStation 2 shooter series is making a comeback with a new installment in the works.

It seems the beloved Killzone franchise may be making a comeback, with reports suggesting that a new game might be in development. Originally launched in 2004, the series was considered a contender against Halo but has been largely dormant for over a decade, with the last installment, Killzone: Shadow Fall, released in 2014 for the PS4.

Recent reports claim that Guerrilla Games is potentially working on a remake or remaster of the original Killzone, possibly with support from People Can Fly, known for their work on Bulletstorm and Outriders. This new project could gain traction as Guerrilla prioritizes Killzone following mixed feedback on their upcoming multiplayer spin-off, Horizon Hunters Gathering.

While there’s speculation about the timeline, it’s uncertain when this new Killzone game might be released—potentially even as a title for the next-generation PlayStation 6. Given the long wait and the nostalgic value, a remake could serve as an excellent way to reintroduce the franchise to both veterans and new players alike.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
