Labor Day Travel Costs on the Rise
Jacksonville, Fla. — As millions prepare for the long holiday weekend, AAA reports that travel costs have increased compared to last year.
-
Airfare: Domestic airfare is averaging $750 for a roundtrip ticket, up 2% from last year.
-
Gas Prices: In Florida, regular gasoline stands at $3.93 a gallon, a significant jump from $3.14 last year.
Despite rising costs, travelers like Suzette Brown, who is driving from Fort Lauderdale to Richmond, Virginia, remain unfazed. “We have to buy gas … we can’t complain about the price,” she remarked.
TSA’s Travel Forecast
The Transportation Security Administration anticipates screening over 17 million travelers between the previous Thursday and this Wednesday.
Drivers should expect congestion, but Brown shared her positive experience thus far, saying, “We’re enjoying it so far. It’s nice.”
Safety Reminder
For those impaired, AAA recommends using their free Tow to Go service for safe transportation.
