NBCUniversal is rebooting the British series I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here for a U.S. audience on Peacock. Hosted by Traitors stars Maura Higgins and Rob Rausch, this version has been in development for some time, marking another attempt to introduce the show Stateside.
Previous U.S. adaptations in 2003 and 2009 were short-lived, lasting only a single season each. The new series is set to launch next year, although the filming location hasn’t been determined; historically, it has taken place in Australia.
Produced by ITV America, which has been keen on adapting the show for years, this version will introduce a twist: celebrities will team up with civilian friends or family members to face challenges together. The premise is that competitors must rely on each other while navigating difficult situations, with a grand prize of $100,000 for the winning team.
