The owner of Waggles Pet Resort in Wheeling has been charged with animal cruelty following the tragic death of a dog, Miller, who was found left inside a hot van for seven hours. The incident occurred while Miller was being transported to the resort for daycare. His owner, Mr. Serota, received a call informing him of the dog’s death after picking him up around 9 a.m. The call came just after 4 p.m., revealing that Miller had not been taken into the facility during a day with temperatures in the mid-90s.
Serota expressed his disbelief and called for a full investigation, emphasizing the trust he placed in the resort to care for his dog. The owner of the resort, Ross Niehaus, has been released after the charge and is set to appear in court on September 25.
