A family in Wheeling, Illinois, is grieving the loss of their 6-year-old black Labrador retriever, Miller, who allegedly died after being left in a hot vehicle for hours at a dog daycare facility. Steve Serota, the dog’s owner, described Miller as an integral part of the family and emphasized how friendly he was. The incident occurred after Miller was picked up by a driver around 9 a.m., with the family receiving a call about his death at 4 p.m.
Upon arriving at the facility, Serota found Miller locked in a cage inside a van, bewildered by how the staff could forget the large dog. He expressed his grief and frustration, highlighting that Miller deserved better care. Waggles Pet Resort, where Miller was regularly taken, issued a statement expressing their devastation over the incident and sharing their sorrow with the family. The Serota family hopes their story raises awareness and accountability to prevent such tragedies in the future.
