OurBus Expands Service for Binghamton Residents
Binghamton, N.Y. (WBNG) — OurBus is enhancing travel opportunities for students and residents by launching direct weekend service from Binghamton to several key suburbs of New York City. This new service will connect travelers to Middletown, Nanuet, Fresh Meadows in Queens, and Melville on Long Island starting Thursday, September 3.
This expansion allows the current Binghamton-to-New York City route to extend beyond Manhattan, catering primarily to students returning home for the weekend. “Starting today, we’re introducing a route to some of the hometowns of many students,” said Axel Hellman, co-founder of OurBus.
The new connections follow a previous service expansion in Binghamton and Ithaca earlier this year. The service is designed for weekend travel, accommodating Binghamton University students, although it is open to all users.
Extra trips will be available during longer weekends and peak college travel periods. This service restores a pre-pandemic direct connection from Binghamton to Long Island, reducing the necessity for a Manhattan transfer.
Feedback from students and their parents has driven this development, with many requesting direct routes to their towns. The route also serves students from SUNY Cortland and Cornell, with future plans to extend connections to other locations, potentially reaching as far as Toronto.
