Loblaw Companies Limited to Invest $1.2 Billion by End of 2026
Brampton, ON – Loblaw Companies Limited is set to invest approximately $1.2 billion in capital expenditures as part of their commitment to enhancing grocery and pharmacy networks across Canada.
Previously, Loblaw announced an overall investment plan of $2.4 billion for 2026, with about half already deployed. The remaining funds will focus on:
- Accelerating the opening of new grocery stores and pharmacies

Expansion Plans
Loblaw expects to open around 75 new locations in 2026, an increase from the initially planned 70, reflecting strong customer demand. The broader investment program aims to create approximately 9,700 retail and construction jobs in 2026, marking the second phase of a 5-year plan to invest $10 billion in Canada by 2030.

Store Innovations
Loblaw is set to explore new concepts, such as:
- A refreshed No Frills store design with an enhanced fresh-food selection in Komoka, Ontario.
- A smaller-format store in Dutton, Ontario, catering to rural communities with a curated assortment of 4,000 products.
Renovations and Customer Focus
The capital program also involves renovating over 190 existing locations, enhancing offerings to better serve customers. Notably, promotional sales at Loblaw have risen by four percentage points since 2022.

T&T Supermarket Expansion
In June, T&T Supermarket opened its first California location in San Jose, achieving record sales for Loblaw’s store openings. Further expansion in California and Washington state is planned for 2026.
