Pitt County Animal Services is reducing adoption fees by 50% for dogs and cats aged one year or older throughout September. Currently at full capacity, the shelter has about 36 cats and 57 dogs available.
Director Kimberly Mitchell encourages families looking to adopt to visit the shelter and help provide homes for these pets. An adoption event is scheduled for September 19 at the shelter, located at 4550 County Home Road.
During this event, cat adoption fees will be $48, while dog fees will be $68. These costs cover spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccinations, heartworm testing for dogs, and deworming.
