Several school districts in Skagit County have received state funding to enhance energy efficiency. The Washington State Department of Commerce announced nearly $30 million in grants for projects across the state on September 1. Among the recipients, Western Washington University is set to receive over $1 million for energy-efficient improvements to comply with the state’s Clean Buildings Performance Standard. The Ferndale School District is allocated almost $50,000 for an audit to uncover potential cost-saving energy measures. Other Skagit County districts, including Mount Vernon, Anacortes, Burlington, and Concrete, also benefited from the funding.
