‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Jim Thornton Placed on Leave Due to Allegations

Jim Thornton, the longtime announcer for “Wheel of Fortune,” has been suspended amid unspecified allegations. Sony Pictures Television Studios announced the decision, stating they are conducting a thorough investigation while recasting his role.

The allegations may be linked to an incident on an American Airlines flight to Los Angeles in May, where a passenger reportedly lodged a complaint against Thornton. Although law enforcement met a passenger upon arrival, they determined no wrongdoing occurred, and Thornton was not arrested or charged.

Thornton joined “Wheel of Fortune” in 2011, succeeding the late Charlie O’Donnell. He has also lent his voice to various shows and films, including “The Price Is Right,” “Jeopardy!,” and the animated film “Monsters, Inc.”
