UPAWS Offers Discounted Microchipping in Marquette County
MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) is providing a limited number of discounted microchips for local pet owners.
Starting September 1, UPAWS has partnered with its main supplier, 24PetWatch, to offer this service. Up to 50 residents can schedule appointments for a reduced fee, available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The cost for the microchipping procedure is only $10, significantly lower than UPAWS’ regular price of $35. This offer applies to dogs, cats, and rabbits over eight weeks of age.
Ann Brownell, UPAWS Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, noting, “What a wonderful way to help the community get their animals microchipped.” She mentioned that they started with 50 appointments and are already booked for the next two weeks.
Microchip appointments are available twice daily from Tuesdays through Fridays and can be scheduled via phone or online.
