Travel Agencies Must Register Tours to China

The Tourism Administration has mandated that travel agencies assist group travelers in registering their trips to China, following the implementation of new border regulations by Beijing on September 15. The Mainland Affairs Council has raised concerns about increased personal safety risks for Taiwanese traveling to China. It advises high-risk individuals to carefully evaluate the necessity of their trips and register through the “Registration System for Taiwanese Traveling to China, Hong Kong and Macao” to ensure timely assistance in emergencies.

Travel agencies must now complete a checklist for each group before departure, provide information on travel risks, aid in registration, and ensure travelers have liability insurance. Non-compliance can result in fines ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$50,000.
