Palms Casino Launches Smoke-Free Gaming Expansion with Charitable Event
The Palms hotel-casino celebrated the grand opening of its new 7,300-square-foot smoke-free gaming expansion this past Tuesday, raising approximately $35,000 for ten local charities in Southern Nevada.
The event kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly enclosed nonsmoking gaming area, which opened to the public last week. The highlight of the celebration was the inaugural “Spin It Forward” IGT Charity Slot Challenge, where Las Vegas personalities competed on slot machines to benefit nonprofit organizations.
Each of the ten participating charities received $2,500 from the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority, for a collective contribution of $25,000. Additionally, IGT donated $10,000, distributed based on the outcomes of the slot tournament.
- First place: Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund (with BMX rider Ricardo Laguna) received an extra $3,000, totaling $5,500.
- Second place: Vegas PBS earned an additional $2,000.
- Third place: Springs Preserve Foundation secured an extra $1,000.

- Southern Nevada Joint Management Culinary & Training Fund

- The Ability Center of Southern Nevada

The new gaming area features 224 slot machines from various manufacturers and boasts its own bar. Unlike traditional smoke-free sections in casinos, this expansion is fully enclosed and separate from the main gaming floor, responding to increasing guest demand for nonsmoking options.
Owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the Palms was acquired in 2021 and reopened in 2022.
