The Barbour County Fair in Belington, W.Va., is marking its 50th anniversary this year, celebrating five decades of rides, entertainment, and family traditions. The fair features various attractions, including a lawn mower demolition derby, carnival rides, games, competitions, and live performances.
Fair President Bill Renzelli reflected on the significant evolution of the event since its inception in 1976, noting the transition from a simple old barn to numerous buildings, rings, and parking areas.
The livestock barn remains a key part of the fair’s heritage. FFA member Lydia Schieffelbein shared her lifelong involvement in raising and showing animals, emphasizing the responsibility and patience it teaches.
Fairgoers come either to showcase their animals or to enjoy the rides and demolition derby.
