Hungarian Government to Prioritize EU Financial Support for Railways, Housing, Water, and Energy Sectors

Hungary has successfully obtained all available EU funding, with Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy emphasizing that the real work is just beginning. He stressed the importance of using these funds efficiently and transparently to ensure tangible results.

Key Investment Areas:

  1. Railway Development: The Baross Gábor Plan aims to reverse the decline in Hungary’s rail network.
  2. Housing Crisis: Plans include constructing affordable homes, rental housing, and student accommodations.
  3. Water Management: Initiatives will address drought impacts, supported by political commitment and funding.
  4. Energy Security: Investments in renewable energy and infrastructure will enhance efficiency and resilience.

Vitézy noted the collaborative efforts across ministries and institutions that led to the adoption of over 100 legislative measures. The funds are expected to boost Hungary’s development and help it catch up with regional peers, following a political agreement in May. He also highlighted the need for meticulous negotiation and completion of required tasks to access these funds.

The minister’s statement encapsulates a sense of optimism, asserting that the country is now on a path to recovery and growth after years of stagnation.
