Chobani, the renowned Greek yogurt brand, is making a significant $1.2 billion investment in Pennsylvania. Governor Josh Shapiro announced this initiative, which will establish Chobani’s first dairy manufacturing facility in the state by taking over an existing plant in the Lehigh Valley previously owned by Keurig Dr Pepper.
The new operation is projected to create 900 full-time jobs over the next five years and will source over 3 billion pounds of milk annually—approximately 30% of Pennsylvania’s total milk production. This investment is seen as a boon for Pennsylvania’s dairy industry and its over 4,000 dairy farmers.
Shapiro emphasized the importance of this funding, calling it the largest private sector investment in Pennsylvania’s agricultural history. Chobani’s production is slated to begin in 2027, with the founder and CEO, Hamdi Ulukaya, highlighting the opportunity to support the state’s many family-owned farms.
