He expressed excitement about the new additions to the defensive front, especially rookie second-round pick Josiah Trotter, whom he described as “an as*hole” in a positive light. Mayfield appreciated Trotter’s tough mentality and noted that the overall improvement in grit and determination was essential for the team’s success.
On the defensive line, Mayfield mentioned free-agent players A’Shawn Robinson and Rakeem Nuñez-Roches, alongside Kalijah Kancey, highlighting the new team’s aggressive nature. He stated, “Improvement up front with the players and also just culture-wise, they’re not going to take any sh*t. We needed that.”
