OSLO, NORWAY – Rystad Energy has officially announced a new minority capital investment from Marlin Equity Partners, coupled with a leadership transition set to take place on 12 October 2026. This funding will bolster Rystad’s expansion efforts across data, analytics, advisory, and technology, while the company retains majority ownership post-investment.
Lars Eirik Nicolaisen, currently Deputy CEO, will step into the CEO role, succeeding founder Jarand Rystad, who will transition to Executive Chairman. This partnership is part of a broader growth strategy for Rystad Energy, especially in developing its artificial intelligence capabilities, including the recently launched Spektra technology ecosystem.
Walter Mair from Marlin Equity emphasized Rystad’s robust data assets and customer-centric approach, stating their integrated platform is strategically positioned for growth in increasingly data-driven energy markets. Nicolaisen aims to enhance Rystad’s offerings further, focusing on delivering precise and trusted data to clients through various platforms.
Jarand Rystad expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Marlin, noting the complexities of energy markets and how this investment will help refine their data platform and AI capabilities. He will remain engaged with clients and continue to influence the company’s long-term strategy as Executive Chairman.
