2A USA Expands Manufacturing in Auburn, Alabama
AUBURN — Italian aluminum die-casting company 2A USA is investing $32 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Auburn, announced Governor Kay Ivey and the company last week. This expansion, aimed at increasing production capacity for complex aluminum components for the heavy truck industry, will create 50 new jobs.
“I’m thrilled to see 2A USA’s growth in Alabama, which reinforces our advanced manufacturing sector and speaks to our skilled workforce,” Ivey said. “This expansion is a testament to both the company’s high standards and Alabama’s business-friendly environment.”
2A USA first entered Alabama in 2014 by acquiring a pre-existing plant in Auburn Technology Park West, where it has since invested in state-of-the-art die-casting and machining equipment. The company previously expanded its facility in 2019 with an investment of $15 million.
Cavaliere Carlo Ilotte, the company’s founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of Auburn in the company’s narrative. “Our focus has always been on advanced engineering and strong partnerships with our customers,” he stated. COO Vincenzo Ilotte echoed this sentiment, saying, “This investment reflects our trust in our U.S.-based customers and the talented team here in Auburn.”
Founded in 1974 in Italy, 2A has focused on being technology-driven with global reach, producing “Made in the USA” products since 2015 via its Auburn operations.
Mayor Ron Anders expressed gratitude for the expansion, highlighting its impact on the local community. “The $32 million investment and new jobs are a significant boost for our area, and we appreciate the Ilotte family’s commitment to our community.”
The expansion enhances 2A’s capacity to produce advanced aluminum components for the North American heavy truck industry, marking a success story for foreign investment in Alabama. Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair noted, “Foreign investments are crucial to Alabama’s economy, and 2A’s growth showcases what can be achieved when companies choose to invest in our state.”
