Chances of development decline further; just one Atlantic disturbance remains.

Development Odds Dwindle for Atlantic Disturbances

The Gulf Coast Hurricane Tracking Team reports that the chances of tropical development in the Atlantic have decreased significantly, with only one disturbance remaining—Invest 94L. Both disturbances were previously moving west across the tropical Atlantic Ocean.

Current Situation

  • Development Odds: As of Saturday morning, the likelihood of development for the remaining disturbance, Invest 92L, has dropped to zero over the next seven days.
  • Invest 94L: This disturbance is being closely monitored but is also facing challenges from dry air and wind shear. The National Hurricane Center estimates a mere 10% chance of development in the next two days and the following week.

What is an “Invest”?

The term “invest” is short for “area of tropical weather investigation.” When designated as an invest, it triggers specialized forecasting models to assess the potential for tropical systems. It’s important to note that being labeled as an invest does not guarantee future development.
