Stagecoach Midlands provides guidance for children riding buses.

Stagecoach Midlands has implemented the Kids Go Free scheme throughout August, allowing children aged five to 15 to travel for free on most of their services. In order to assist young passengers, especially those who may be riding the bus for the first time, they have provided essential travel tips on their website.

Key Advice for Young Bus Travelers:

  • Tell a Parent/Guardian: Before traveling, children should inform an adult about their destination.
  • Practice the Route: It’s a good idea to go over the journey together with an adult beforehand.
  • Travel with Friends: Whenever possible, children are encouraged to travel with peers for added comfort and safety.
  • Prepare Your Device: Make sure to charge your phone before leaving and download the Stagecoach Bus App for easy access to information.

Safety Tips While Onboard:

  • Use Headphones: This helps minimize noise and keeps the atmosphere pleasant for everyone.
  • Stay Seated: Children should remain seated while the bus is in motion and keep personal belongings close.
  • Communicate Concerns: If they feel worried or unsafe, they should sit near the driver and notify them.

Mark Whitelocks, Managing Director of Stagecoach Midlands, expressed delight at the high participation of children in the scheme and emphasized that bus travel can be an enjoyable experience when done safely. The Kids Go Free scheme is part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings Scheme and also allows children under five to travel for free year-round.
