Two Tropical Disturbances Being Watched Over the Atlantic Ocean
Overview
Both disturbances are currently moving west across the tropical Atlantic Ocean, prompting the Gulf Coast Hurricane Tracking Team to monitor their potential for tropical development.
Area One: Invest 92L
As of 8 p.m. Thursday, Invest 92L is located about 800 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The designation as an “invest” allows for more detailed data collection, although it doesn’t guarantee development.
- Current Organization: The disturbance is showing less organization compared to earlier in the week.
- Development Chances: The National Hurricane Center has reduced development chances to 40%.
- Impacts: The Lesser Antilles can expect heavy rain and gusty winds as the disturbance approaches.

Area Two: Invest 94L
Invest 94L is also being monitored as it moves westward over the Atlantic Ocean.
- Current Status: Similar to Invest 92L, 94L may encounter dry air and increasing wind shear as it nears the Caribbean Sea.
- Development Odds: The National Hurricane Center currently estimates a 30% chance of development in the next two days and a 50% chance over the next week.

What is an Invest?
The term “invest” refers to an area of tropical weather investigation, triggering specific forecast models to assess the likelihood of development. It’s important to note that invests are not necessarily organized systems, and designation does not guarantee that a tropical system will form.
