Israel Confirms Benjamin Netanyahu’s Trip to New York for UN General Assembly

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit the United States from September 23 to September 25, primarily to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. This visit follows the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur and precedes the Sukkot holiday. Netanyahu is anticipated to address the General Assembly on September 24.

His prior visit to New York was during the 80th UNGA in September 2025, where he criticized Western nations for supporting Palestinian statehood, asserting that such recognition rewarded violence against Jews.

In light of this upcoming visit, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has publicly stated his intent to have Netanyahu arrested due to accusations of war crimes. Despite his declarations, Mamdani admitted a lack of legal authority to enforce an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Nonetheless, he has continued to label Netanyahu a “war criminal” and has articulated that he believes Netanyahu should be put on trial for alleged actions against Palestinians.

Mamdani’s remarks reflect a significant political stance, as he claimed Netanyahu is responsible for extensive casualties and suffering in Gaza, reiterating that he is not welcome in New York City.
