Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of the Future is for Everyone Fund, aimed at investing in communities where Meta operates data centers, including Cheyenne. In a piece titled “The Future is for Everyone: The Path to a Positive AI Future,” he emphasizes the importance of personal empowerment and community benefits in AI infrastructure development.
Zuckerberg argues that sustainable developments should create high-paying jobs, invest in local schools, and ensure stable energy prices. He points to Meta’s previous investments, which have benefited local projects, such as stormwater filtration devices in Cheyenne’s Crow Creek, helping to improve water quality.
Mayor Patrick Collins noted that Meta plans to invest $1 billion in each community with a data center, supporting schools, water, power, and public safety. The funding could lead to significant improvements in Cheyenne, given its role as one of 28 data centers across the U.S.
Additionally, Zuckerberg highlighted Meta’s America’s Workforce Academy, which offers free training for skilled trades and guarantees high-paying jobs. He also assured that Meta is committed to sustainable practices, including becoming water positive by 2030.
