Children can travel for free on a major bus network this summer as part of the government’s Great British Summer Savings campaign. Go Thames Valley, which includes Thames Travel, Oxford Bus Company, Carousel Buses, and Pulhams, is offering the initiative from August 1 to August 31 for kids aged 5 to 15.
This scheme aims to help families enjoy affordable outings across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, and the Cotswolds. Luke Marion, managing director of Go Thames Valley, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, saying it allows families to travel for less during the holidays.
The free travel does not apply to airline services or The Robin services. The company also runs various cost-saving schemes like the CityZone ‘Get Around for £1’ for passengers aged 18 and under. Additionally, discounted season and multi-trip tickets are available through their mobile app and key card scheme.
City Sightseeing Oxford and Pearces Coaches are hosting family-friendly activities, including Pearces’ mystery tour in the Cotswolds and day trips to attractions like the Natural History Museum and Thorpe Park.
