The recent barometer on Italian investment in Spain reveals strong optimism among Italian companies regarding their presence in the Spanish market. Key highlights include:

  • Strategic Presence: 94% of Italian companies in Spain view their operations as strategic, with 71% anticipating growth in turnover and investments, and 47% considering workforce expansion.

  • Long-Term Commitment: A remarkable 93% of respondents plan to continue their operations in Spain over the next five years.

  • Business Climate Confidence: The average business climate rating is 3.3 out of 5, with 59% of companies rating it as good or excellent. Quality of life scores even higher at 3.8 out of 5.

  • Significant Economic Role: Italy is the fifth-largest foreign investor in Spain, accounting for 7.7% of foreign capital, with investments exceeding 46.7 billion euros.

  • Investment Trends: Although there was a slowdown in 2025 due to geopolitical concerns, over the last decade, Italian investments in Spain reached nearly 8 billion euros, primarily in the energy sector.

  • Job Creation: Italian investments contributed to maintaining over 126,000 jobs in 2024, with Spain also seen as a gateway to Latin America.
