$750,000 Investment Closes Funding Shortfall at Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake

Funding Gap at Pendragon Theatre Closed with $750,000 Investment

SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. — The Pendragon Theatre, the only year-round professional theater company in the Adirondacks, has secured its future following a public-private investment that closed a $750,000 funding gap.

This funding completes the financing for the theater’s over $11 million facility in downtown Saranac Lake, which has transformed a vacant grocery store into a vibrant performing arts venue.

During her visit to the facility, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the investment, highlighting the significant transformation: “What was just a vacant grocery store in the middle of the Saranac Lake community was transformed into not only a performing arts space but also a year-round gathering space that residents and visitors can call home.”

The project was made possible through a combination of public and private funding, including over $6.2 million from New York State through various grant programs, such as a Downtown Revitalization grant.

Local officials, business owners, and arts supporters recognize the Pendragon as a cultural cornerstone in the region, and this completed funding marks a major milestone for the community.
