Broadening Availability of Nutritious, Budget-Friendly Food | Updates from WDEL News

The Delaware Division of Small Business recently awarded checks to recipients of the Delaware Grocery Initiative and the First State Food System Grant Program. On August 3, 2026, the Milton Community Food Pantry received $20,000 to expand their offerings to include fresh food. Additionally, North Dover Elementary School was awarded $15,000 to enhance its garden program. The presentation took place on August 4 at Springer Middle School in New Castle County, where a new school-based garden is being established, with plans to replicate it in Dover. In total, the program is distributing $712,000 to 28 schools and organizations.
