US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that FIFA President Gianni Infantino had not discussed FIFA’s proposed $20 billion investment plan with him. When asked by reporters at Camp David if he had been contacted regarding the proposal, Trump simply replied, “No.”
FIFA announced plans to establish a $20 billion subsidiary to manage the World Cup and other competitions, with up to a 20% stake available for external investors. Infantino, who has built a close relationship with Trump during this year’s World Cup, previously presented him with FIFA’s inaugural Peace Prize in December, indicating his efforts to strengthen ties with the US president.
