Springfield to Upgrade MassMutual Center with $93 Million Investment
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Governor Healey has announced a significant $93 million investment aimed at upgrading the MassMutual Center in Springfield. This funding comes alongside a commitment from the Springfield Thunderbirds to remain in the city for the long haul.
The upgrades will be carried out over a five-year period, focusing on modernizing the arena without disrupting the Thunderbirds’ season. Sean Dolan, General Manager of the MassMutual Center, emphasized that the renovations will enhance various aspects of the venue, including premium seating, digital displays, sound systems, and food offerings. Dolan noted the importance of these upgrades in remaining competitive with nearby markets like Hartford and Providence.
