Investigators are examining the cause of a house fire in Lafayette that tragically resulted in the deaths of eight pets. The fire, reported around 1:15 p.m. on Friday, September 4, occurred in the 700 block of Park Avenue, near Main and Kossuth streets.
Fire crews from the Lafayette Fire Department discovered flames in the kitchen and worked diligently to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, the owner escaped without injuries, but sadly, three dogs and five cats perished.
The Lafayette Fire Department expressed its condolences to the affected family and stated that the investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing.
