American Eagle Outfitters Invests $41 Million in Rowan County
American Eagle Outfitters Inc. is set to invest $41 million in a new distribution hub located in Salisbury, North Carolina, which is expected to create over 200 jobs in Rowan County. The announcement was made by Gov. Josh Stein‘s office on July 17.
The new facility will handle distribution operations across the southeastern United States. Among the positions created, approximately 70 management, maintenance, and operations roles will have an average salary of $57,351, which is competitive with the Rowan County average of $57,155.
This project is projected to contribute more than $4 million in annual payroll to the local economy. The Innovation Logistics Center, located off Peeler Road, is anticipated to begin operations in early 2027.
Gov. Stein emphasized North Carolina’s reputation as a top state for business, citing its stable economy, skilled workforce, and business-friendly environment. CEO Jay Schottenstein views this expansion as a significant step for enhancing the company’s supply chain efficiency and product distribution.
American Eagle Outfitters, founded in 1977, operates multiple brands, including American Eagle, Aerie, OFFL/NE by Aerie, Todd Snyder, and Unsubscribed. The retailer has a presence in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and its products reach over 30 countries through licensing.
The company will receive a performance-based grant of $150,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, contingent upon creating at least 70 jobs and meeting specific investment targets.
N.C. Rep. Harry Warren expressed excitement over this development for Salisbury and Rowan County, highlighting the collaborative efforts at state and local levels to foster economic growth.
