Fly Like an Eagle: American Eagle Outfitters to Invest $41M, Create 200 Jobs in Rowan County

Salisbury, NC — The Rowan Economic Development Council has announced that American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) is set to establish a new distribution center in Rowan County, investing $41 million and creating over 200 full-time jobs.
The facility will span 472,890 square feet and will be located at the Innovation Logistics Center at 1415 Peeler Road, with operations expected to start in early 2027. This significant investment highlights the ongoing growth of Rowan County’s logistics and distribution sector, while generating new employment opportunities for the community.
Greg Edds, Chairman of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners, expressed excitement about AEO’s decision, stating, “We are proud to welcome American Eagle Outfitters, an iconic apparel retailer recognized around the world, to Rowan County. This new distribution center represents not just an investment in facilities but also in our people and our future.”
Salisbury Mayor Tamara Sheffield emphasized the positive impact of this investment on the local economy. “We are excited to welcome AEO to Salisbury. They will bring more than 200 jobs, boosting the local economy and expanding opportunities for residents.”
AEO’s Senior Vice President of Global Distribution and Fulfillment, Keith Glivic, referred to the center as a “key investment in AEO’s future growth,” expressing eagerness to create jobs and develop strong community ties.
Rod Crider, President and CEO of the Rowan EDC, highlighted the competitive advantages of Rowan County, citing its skilled workforce, strategic location, and favorable business climate. He voiced optimism about the partnership that will lead to quality jobs and long-term economic growth.
This project was supported by various entities, including Rowan County, the City of Salisbury, Duke Energy, the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and other state organizations.
