As people in the U.S. live longer, health experts emphasize the importance of daily habits for enhancing longevity and quality of life. Liz Wyosnick, a registered dietitian at the Washington Athletic Club, suggests adopting the “5 for 50 Challenge” to help improve health through simple, consistent routines.
The “5 for 50 Challenge”
Wyosnick proposes five achievable daily goals:
- Drink at least 60 ounces of water.
- Eat at least three cups of vegetables, including one cup of greens.
- Consume at least 25 grams of fiber.
- Support a 12-14 hour overnight fast.
- Engage in at least 30 minutes of movement.
These targets are aimed at making it easier for individuals to enhance their overall well-being and longevity effectively.

Clear and Repeatable
The goal of Wyosnick’s approach is to provide a straightforward and repeatable set of daily targets that anyone can follow to improve their health and extend their lifespan.
