The UK government is launching a scheme next month that will offer free bus travel for all children aged five to 15 years. This initiative is part of the “Great British Summer Savings” program, aimed at making summer outings more affordable for families, including discounts on children’s meals at restaurants, theater tickets, and attraction entries.
Roads Minister Simon Lightwood has been actively promoting this initiative, which will kick off just in time for the summer holidays. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander emphasized that this measure is designed to ease the cost of living for families and encourage enjoyment of local attractions, such as the Roman Baths and Alton Towers.
Helen Godwin, the Mayor of the West of England, expressed her excitement about the national rollout of the “Kids Go Free” scheme, highlighting its positive impact on families. VisitEngland’s Director, Andrew Stokes, also praised the initiative, noting it will support families in exploring the diverse attractions across England while promoting environmentally-friendly travel.
