Young Japanese consumers are increasingly cutting back on spending—avoiding luxuries like burgers and vacations—to focus more on tax-free investment accounts. This trend is largely driven by fears of missing out on stock market gains and concerns about financial stability. Notably, investors aged 40 and younger represented nearly half of all NISA (Nippon Individual Savings Account) purchases by June 2025.
