Travel Restrictions Imposed in Suffolk and Nassau Counties Amid Severe Blizzard Conditions

A blizzard warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for New York, indicating dangerous winter weather conditions with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected from Sunday morning through Monday afternoon. Travel is advised against, unless it’s an emergency, as whiteout conditions could make it extremely hazardous. Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a State of Emergency for Long Island and other regions, emphasizing the importance of staying vigilant and informed about the evolving weather situation. Snowfall rates could reach between 1 to 2 inches per hour, with the potential for even higher rates during the storm. Those needing to travel are urged to carry a winter survival kit and to remain in their vehicles if stranded.
